Meininger's Wine World, Issue 2/2025
Under the title "Local Greats," it offers a detailed look into the world of Riesling Ortswein (local wines) from the Palatinate and Rheinhessen. And our 2023 Osthofen Riesling earned the top rating of 91 points in Rheinhessen.
We're particularly pleased because we enjoy drinking our Riesling Ortswein so much ourselves.

With 4 stars in the new Eichelmann Wine Guide, the Karl May winery is among Germany's top wineries.

The two top Rieslings from Goldberg and Morstein even made it back into the list of the best German Rieslings with 93 points.

"After a magnificent collection last year, Peter and Fritz May's new collection is also showing its best in the not-so-unsettled 2021 vintage. The basic quality is once again impressively high, as demonstrated by the two estate wines presented."

"As in the previous year, the three single-vineyard Rieslings top the white collection. The wine from the Bechtheimer Geyersberg displays pure fruit on the bouquet and the yellow fruit typical of the Geyersberg, is full-bodied and juicy in the mouth, with plenty of ripe fruit and substance. The wine from the Morstein displays plenty of ripe fruit, yellow fruit, and has good precision, plenty of freshness, and grip. Even more precise and minerally is the still very youthful Riesling from the Goldberg, which builds up plenty of power and grip."

Marcus Hofschuster of wein.Plus has chosen our 2020 Riesling Estate Wine as his favorite and describes it as follows: "If the base wine is a winery's calling card, this is one made of the finest handmade paper with gold embossing and all the trimmings. Because it's taut, cool, incredibly juicy, grippy, and precise, even now despite its young age, and a touch reductive, stimulating as can be. It doesn't get any better than this for this price level!"

We are very proud of the outstanding 93 points our 2017 Osthofener Riesling dry achieved at the 2018 Best of Riesling international tasting.
93 points is the highest rating in this category, tied with the first place. Ortsweine (village wines) form the middle of the origin pyramid, between estate wines and single-vineyard wines. They demonstrate a strong sense of origin and impress with their fine minerality.

"Big Brother" - great joy! The first edition of our new red wine blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon immediately achieved second place at the Meininger Red Wine Award (international grape varieties)!
